New collective agreement between the Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec and ADISQ on show production

June 25, 2024

Montreal, June 25, 2024 - After nearly two years of negotiations, the Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec (GMMQ) and adisq reached an agreement in principle on May 10 to conclude a new collective agreement covering the retention of musician services for show productions. This agreement in principle was ratified by the members of both associations on June 10.

Negotiators were able to address real issues in the field, including challenges related to the administration of the collective agreement, the replacement of a musician during a production, the postponement and cancellation of performances, the realities of productions by emerging or niche artists, and the recognition of certain additional tasks performed by musicians at the request of the producer.

The collective agreement will come into effect on September 9, 2024, and will run for two years.

This new agreement with adisq marks an important step in the improvement and modernization of our members' contractual clauses and working conditions on stage. The openness and frankness of both parties characterized this negotiation, and we underscore adisq's willingness to create a constructive climate in its relations with the GMMQ." - Luc Fortin, outgoing president and GMMQ spokesperson at the negotiating table.

adisq is proud of these negotiations, which were conducted in a spirit of transparency and attentiveness, and thanks the negotiating committees for their hard work.

This exercise has led to a current agreement that respects the interests of all stakeholders, and adisq is continuing along the same path for all its negotiations,” declared Eve Paré, adisq's Executive Director.
